libbitstream-dev software package provides access to binary structures such as specified by MPEG, DVB, IETF and more, you can install in your Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install libbitstream-dev
libbitstream-dev is installed in your system.
Make ensure the libbitstream-dev package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep libbitstream-dev *
You will get with libbitstream-dev package name, version, architecture and description in a table
